Polypipe Building Services has released environmental product declarations (EPDs) for several of its PVC pipes and fittings sold in the UK.
Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are independently verified and registered documents.
They provide relevant and comparable information about the environmental impact of goods and services.
About Environmental Product Declarations
Increasingly, EPDs are produced by manufacturers.
They set out/demonstrate the environmental impacts associated with a particular product over its whole life.
This spans from extraction of raw materials to the end of a product’s life.
Currently, manufacturers are not obliged to provide them.
However, Polypipe Building Services now supplies them for all products as part of their commitment to construction best practice.
Alex Ashton, environmental and sustainability manager at Polypipe Building Services said: “Providing detailed environmental information for our products marks an important milestone in supporting the UK construction industry to make more sustainable choices.
