HS2 contractors told to cut CO2 by half

HS2 contractors have been told to cut carbon dioxide emissions by half.

The challenging 50% carbon reduction target applies to the construction of phase one civils asset.

To meet the target, contractors are turning to next-generation materials, including low carbon concrete. Using the low carbon concrete, contractors have prepared the ground beneath a planned substation set to power tunnel boring machines.

Now, discussions are underway to see how the same materials can play a role in other phases of the HS2 project.
