Future Homes Task Force to ensure housebuilding is aligned to UK’s net-zero target

A new cross-sector Future Homes Task Force has been set up to help construction businesses build greener homes.

As part of its work, the task force will create a multi-million-pound delivery hub. The hub will help the building sector to meet the UK net-zero target, by making new homes more energy efficient.

The Future Homes Task Force members include businesses across the built environment sector. It also features utility providers, material suppliers and environmental groups.

The proposed delivery hub will work to help housebuilding comply with government environmental legislation.

A month ago, Business Secretary Alok Sharma called on UK traders to access the Government’s new £2bn Green Homes Grants scheme.

Currently, the business secretary is urging traders to work together to improve the energy efficiency of the UK’s housing stock.
